On November 6th, DSCC will bring a group of the most influential speakers on the future of quantum dot technology and its market outlook lead by Nanosys CEO Jason Hartlove. Quantum dots are unique in that they have the opportunity to become a significant part of the LCD, OLED and microLED markets as those technologies strive for improved color performance, higher brightness and in some cases lower costs. In addition, as quantum dot material performance improves, it has the potential to become its own emissive display technology.
Fifty high school students from Milpitas and Calaveras Hills high schools learned about career opportunities with local high tech manufacturers at the second annual Milpitas Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 5.
The event, co-sponsored by the City of Milpitas, Milpitas Unified School District, and Milpitas Economic Development Commission, is part of a community effort to increase awareness of the opportunities for good-paying jobs for young people in local manufacturing careers.
Two local firms—View Inc. (https://viewglass.com) that builds “smart windows” with dynamic glass, and Nanosys (http://www.nanosysinc.com/), a leading developer of quantum dot technology for electronic displays—opened their doors to students and other representatives from the Milpitas community.
Quantum Dots are changing the way displays are made. Today, this unique nanomaterial is perfecting LCD displays, enabling a new generation of brighter, more efficient televisions with lifelike colors. This has given LCD technology an important edge as it battles new TV display entrants such as WOLED. What’s next for this novel nanotechnology?
