Dr. J. Wallace Parce, Nanosys Inc. Vice-President of Research and Chief Technology Officer, Receives SBS Accomplishment Award from the Society for Biomolecular Screening

Palo Alto, CA - (September 23, 2003). Nanosys Inc., a leader in nanotechnology-enabled systems, announced today that its Vice-President of Research and Chief Technology Officer, Dr. J. Wallace Parce, received the 2003 Society for Biomolecular Screening Accomplishment Award.

The Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS) Accomplishment Award recognizes members for outstanding accomplishments in research, innovation, ground breaking foundation, or seminal contributions that have proven to be broadly applicable to pharmaceutical and agricultural discovery. The award recognizes independence of thought, originality, clarity of vision, and a consistent record of achievement.

Dr. Parce is recognized for his contributions to the field of microfluidic -- lab-on-a-chip -- technologies and his pioneering role in commercializing this new platform technology. He commented: “I am very pleased to receive this SBS Accomplishment Award. I look forward to repeating this successful technology commercialization experience with my colleagues at Nanosys in the field of nanotechnology”. Dr. Parce is currently leading the effort to commercialize an entirely new platform technology, nano-enabled systems, in his current assignment at Nanosys, Inc.

“It is a privilege to have a prominent accomplished scientist with the experience and leadership of Dr. Parce spearheading our technology development effort”, said Larry Bock, Nanosys President and CEO. “We hope to continue to attract, develop and retain highly innovative people like Dr. Parce.” Nanosys announced last week that two of its employees and one member of its Scientific Advisory Board won the 2003 TR100 Award, given by Technology Review, MIT’s magazine of Innovation, recognizing 100 young individuals whose innovative work in business and technology has a profound impact on our world.
