Nanosys, Inc. Selected as 2004 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum

Palo Alto, CA - (December 15, 2003). Nanosys Inc., the emerging leader in the field of nanotechnology-enabled systems, announced today that it was selected as one of the 2004 Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum. Nanosys Inc. was selected for its discovery and development of nanomaterials with fundamentally unique electronic, optical and magnetic properties, and for its integration of these revolutionary materials into nano-enabled systems applicable in life and physical sciences, information technology, renewable energy, defense and communication.

In line with the World Economic Forum’s commitment to improving the state of the world, the Technology Pioneers program was established in 2000 to identify yearly the thirty companies around the world that are designing and developing new technologies most capable of improving the way business and society operate. Each selected innovative company is harnessing, adapting, and utilizing technology in cutting-edge fields such as nanotechnology, renewable energy and biotechnology that have the most potential to better our world. The World Economic Forum is invested in monitoring and highlighting these innovations.

“We are very pleased to be selected as a 2004 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum,” said Calvin Chow, Nanosys Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. “This award is a reflection of the great strides we have made in advancing our core platform and our commercialization efforts of a truly remarkable technology. The World Economic Forum experts understand and believe in the future impact of the emerging nanotechnology industry.”

"Being recognized internationally by such a renowned organization is showing the accomplishments of Nanosys in assembling creative world scientific experts in nanotechnology research with a dynamic innovative management team" said Larry Bock, Nanosys Co-founder and Executive Chairman “It is a testimony to Nanosys’s position at the forefront of the burgeoning nanotechnology industry.”
