VPW 28” 4K Display With QDEF Technology from Nanosys and 3M Enables Wide Color Gamut, High Brightness and Eco-friendly 50% Power Savings  

San Diego, Calif., June 2, 2014 – VP Dynamics Labs (Mobile) Ltd., a leading provider of LCD display solutions, today announced the first Quantum Dot Enhancement Film powered 4K LCD monitor-- premium quality aSi display raises the bar with its low cost, highly saturated colors and ultra low power consumption. The VPW 28” display will redefine the entire 4K display market by bringing prices down to an affordable range while maximizing benefits for consumers as well as for manufacturers. A hands-on demonstration featuring fast-paced 4K gaming can be seen at the 2014 DisplayWeek this week in San Diego at the VP Dynamics booth (1137). VPW RGBW displays are expected to be available for retail purchase later this year.

The VPW display utilizing four color primaries, RGBW, with additional white sub-pixels and the proprietary VPW virtual technology can achieve 4K ultra high definition (UHD) perceived image and video quality on TV and mobile displays with ultra low power. Furthermore, the addition of Quantum Dot Enhancement Film technology from Nanosys and 3M enables wide color gamut of 100% DCI-P3 while keeping the power consumption and manufacturing cost low.

The VPW 28” 4K display includes the following features:

  • 4K VPW RGBW QDEF Enhanced aSi IPS LCD, which provides superior screen performance, including wide viewing angles and lifelike flesh tones

  • 16:9 QDEF backlight technology + white sub-pixels on color filter improves power consumption by 50% compared to conventional backlights

  • 100% NTSC color gamut coverage for accurate lifelike color

  • 3840 x VPW x 2160 resolution for a total of 8,294,400 pixels

  • 600 cd/m2 brightness

  • 1,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, for detailed images and text

  • 120 Hz frame rate makes motion smooth

  • 10 bit color accuracy with 107.4 million discrete colors

  • RoHS compliance
