South China Morning Post: Nanosys develops alternatives for rare earths used in televisions

Nanosys CEO Jason Hartlove recently spoke with reporter Chad Bray of South China Morning Post about how Quantum Dots can replace rare-earths in displyas, rapid growth of the technology in the display market and how tariffs could impact the company’s business:

“We have actually added a significant amount of capacity in our plant and so we are looking forward to filling that up in the coming years. Our overall volume, of material that we're shipping to customers, has been growing by more than 50 per cent a year,” Hartlove said. “We foresee that that's just going to continue on the basis of better performance [of our products] than your white LED phosphors, traditional rare earth phosphors.”

TVT on CES 2019 TVs: "Go Big Or Go Home"

Joseph Palanchar, writing for TVTechnology, interviews Nanosys VP of Sales and Marketing Russell Kempt on CES 2019 and Quantum Dot display technology’s move to the mainstream market:

“As quantum-dot costs fall, added Kempt of quantum-dot supplier Nanosys, “it is now becoming possible for set makers to waterfall the technology across their product lineups.” As a result, by the end of 2018, “we’re beginning to see quantum-dot technology entering the mainstream market for TVs with several 65-inch TV products available below $1,500.”
