Nanosys Hyperion™ Quantum Dot Technology Wins Display Component of The Year Award at DisplayWeek 2017


Milpitas, Calif., May 16, 2017 – Nanosys, the Quantum Dot company, today received the 2017 Display Industry Awards (DIA) Display Component of the Year award for its Hyperion Quantum Dot technology from the Society for Information Display (SID).

Nanosys has selected global electronic materials manufacturer Hitachi Chemical as the lead manufacturing partner for Hyperion QDEF. Hitachi Chemical will begin sampling quantum dot film using Nanosys Hyperion Quantum Dot Technology. Mass production volumes will be available to display makers during the second half of 2017.

Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisashi Maruyama announces the launch of mass production and sales of quantum dot film, an optical technology that realizes a wider color gamut in liquid crystal display (LCD). 

Since December 2015 Hitachi Chemical has accelerated the development of quantum dot film by introducing the technology of the leading quantum-dot company, Nanosys. This partnership has allowed us to combine Nanosys's quantum dot technology and Hitachi Chemical's strength in polymer science, thus enabling mass production and sales of quantum dot film in about one year after the start of development.

SAN FRANCISCO, May 23, 2016 -- Nanosys, Inc. announced today that Hitachi Chemical and Nanosys have partnered in the development of QDEF optical films for display applications. 

Hitachi Chemical plans to begin shipping QDEF to display manufacturers in mass production volumes during the 2nd half of 2016.
