PALO ALTO, CA. Aug. 13, 2010 – QD Soleil™, today announced that its parent company, Nanosys, has entered into a strategic alliance with Samsung Electronics. The broad based partnership will include co-development and licensing of QD Soleil’s seminal IP estate for the use of nanotechnology in solar. In addition to equity investment in Nanosys, the Samsung partnership includes funding for the co-development of specific, nanotechnology based solar devices as well as IP licensing.

Palo Alto, Calif., August 10, 2010 – Nanosys, Inc., an advanced materials architect, and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in semiconductor, telecommunication, and digital technologies, today announced a strategic alliance and licensing arrangement to accelerate the development of commercial applications of nano-architected materials for the electronics and thin film solar markets. Under the terms of the deal, Samsung Electronics will contribute funding and resources to co-develop products using Nanosys technologies, in addition to $15 million equity investment from the affiliated Samsung Venture Investment Corporation.

QD Soleil™ Announces Allowance of Claims for Nano-enabled Solar Concentrators

Palo Alto, CA. June 23, 2009 – QD Soleil™, a division of Nanosys, Inc., announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed the company patent claims based on the use of nanostructures for solar concentrators. Solar concentrators magnify the sun’s rays on a small area of highly efficient solar cells. Such concentrators can dramatically reduce the cost of solar energy systems because the active solar cells can be made much smaller and thinner.

May 26, 2009 – QD Soleil™, a division of Nanosys Inc., today announced the signing of an exclusive license agreement with Starfire Electronic Development and Marketing Corporation for patents covering the work of nanotechnology pioneer Dr. Avery Goldstein. The technologies under license have the potential to dramatically improve the economics of solar energy by increasing process efficiencies and reducing the amount of raw materials required in the manufacture of photovoltaic cells.
